Milan mayor Sala: "Italy should help management companies, not only Alitalia"
He spoke during Assolombarda assembly
Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, spoke this morning, Monday 12 October 2020, on the occasion of the Assolombardia assembly. The association event was organized at Linate airport and the Milanese mayor took the opportunity to investigate the question of ex-Sea Handling. According to Sala, that of the private company is a "matter relating to relations between Sea, Alitalia and the Government". The mayor also underlined how the cost incurred to keep Linate open is very high for the company that manages the airport itself, in addition to the fact that there has been no intervention by the executive.
The first citizen then made a comparison with another country: "In other countries, in addition to the national airline, there is support for those who manage airports, such as in Germany". This is why it would be the Municipality alone and therefore all the Milanese citizens to bear the costs, although Linate is not just for them. Discussions with the government would be ongoing, even if the solutions on the horizon are not yet in sight. On the ashes of Sea Handling, Airport Handling was born in 2013, a private company created in response to the fine of 360 million euros imposed by the European Union which had contested public aid.
