Breakthrough on helicopters for the Indian Coast Guard

Russia abandons tender, Airbus remains the only one supplier with H-225M

An important turning point occurred in the tender for the supply of 14 new heavy twin-engine helicopters for the Indian Coast Guard, which will use them to carry out various missions related to security and off-shore surveillance. The Russia-based manufacturer has withdrawn from the 890 million Euros competition, leaving European company Airbus as the only supplier in the race.

The two bids on the table were those of the Russian-made Kamov KA-32A11M and European H-225M helicopters. After allegations related to the leaking of confidential documents at the previous 2018 tender that was cancelled, the US could not re-bid with the Sikorsky S-92. Italy's Leonardo Group also did not participate in the tender.
