Russia-Ukraine: more weapons from NATO

USA allocate new funds for 2023, from London kit to clear minefields

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, has promulgated the budget law which allocates funds to various sectors for the 2023 fiscal year. It is a 1.7 trillion dollar provision which provides, among other things, "crucial assistance in Ukraine" in both the humanitarian and arms supply fields. There should be drones and GM-140 Atacms (Army Tactical Missile System) missile systems, manufactured by Lockheed Martin, with a range of 300 km.

On weapons and ammunition "we are at war and we can't get enough, so we are always asking for more, but we must remember a simple fact: we receive more support than any country has received, at least in the 21st century", said the Ukrainian foreign minister, Dmytro Kuleba, today.

The secretary general of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Jens Stoltenberg is convinced that although "it may seem a paradox, military support for Ukraine is the fastest way to peace", because "every country has the right to defend itself", so to convince Putin that he will not achieve his goals. What is needed is "a peaceful negotiated solution that guarantees that Ukraine will be recognized as an independent democratic State".

Meanwhile, the British Defense Minister, Ben Wallace, formalized the shipment of 1,000 metal detectors and 100 bomb deactivation kits, with the aim of supporting the clearing of Ukrainian minefields: "This latest aid package from UK will help Ukraine secure land and buildings". "Russia's use of landmines and attacks on civilian infrastructure underscore the shocking cruelty of Putin's invasion".
