Strike at Helsinki Airport (3): Finnair cancels around 100 flights on July 2nd

But the strike is also planned for July 4, 7, 16, 18, 21, and 23

"The Finnish Aviation Union (IAU) has announced a union strike at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport for Wednesday, July 2. If the planned actions are carried out, they will impact all essential ground services related to Finnair flights": thus begins a statement today in which the largest Finnish airline confirms the disruptions and repercussions also announced today by the airport operator Finavia (see AVIONEWS).

Due to the planned strike, on July 2 Finnair will have to cancel about 100 flights, affecting the travel plans of approximately 7,000 passengers. These passengers will be allowed to change their flight date without additional costs.

The Iau strike will also affect passengers on July 4, 7, 16, 18, 21, and 23. The potential impact of these actions is still under assessment, the company comments; therefore, Finnair Customer Service is currently unable to provide information on possible flight cancellations on those dates. "Finnair will directly inform affected customers of cancellations two days in advance".

The statement continues: "Customers booked for July 4 and 7 are encouraged to reschedule their travel dates as soon as possible. Flights can be rescheduled to an earlier or later date up until the end of September".
