UNITED AIRLINES' MECHANICS READY TO STRIKE

CHICAGO, United mechanics yesterday told federal mediators in Washington they want a break in talks with the company and a 30-day cooling off period after which they could legally go on strike. So the possible unrest would affect the airline's flight during Christmas holidays.
