BA AND KLM TO CALL OFF MERGER TALKS

LONDON, The two carriers issued a joint statement saying they will not proceed any further on talks concerning combining their respective businesses. Rod Eddington, chief executive of British Airways, and Leo van Wijk, chief executive of KLM said it was impossible to resolve some commercial, economic and aeropolitical issues.
