Cathay inaugurates direct air connection Rome-HK

After Milan, now the capital becomes the second Italian city

Today marked the inaugural direct flight of Cathay Pacific connecting Rome-Fiumicino to Hong Kong. The new route will operate three times a week—on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays—as a seasonal Summer service until October 25, 2025. Following Milan, where the airline offers a daily air connection, Rome becomes the second Italian city linked directly to Hong Kong. With this development, the Cathay Group, which includes the premium full-service carrier Cathay Pacific and the low-cost airline HK Express, is poised to reach nearly 100 passenger destinations by the first half of 2025, including 22 cities in mainland China. The connection from Italy’s capital represents a significant strengthening of the airline’s European network. By the end of this month, Cathay Pacific will also introduce new direct flights from Munich, followed by the resumption of services from Brussels in August, bringing the total number of European destinations served to 12.

The flights between Rome and Hong Kong will be operated using the A-350/900 aircraft.
