Tajani at the NATO summit today and tomorrow in The Hague
Together with President Meloni and Minister Crosetto

The Italian Vice-President of the Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), Antonio Tajani, will be in The Hague today and tomorrow to participate in the NATO Heads of State and Government summit, alongside the Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and the Minister of Defense Guido Crosetto.
The fundamental objective of this year’s NATO summit will be to reach an agreement among the allies on a new defense spending commitment of 5% of GDP (Gross Domestic Product), for which the Government has secured both an extension of the deadlines and the flexibility required to achieve the 5% target.
The agenda will also focus on the expansion of transatlantic defense industry production, the sustained military support to Ukraine in the long term, as well as the necessary coordination between the Alliance and the European Union.
Dedicated attention to the Russia-Ukraine conflict will be given during a meeting of foreign ministers in the framework of the "NATO-Ukraine Council", allowing the allies to receive updated assessments on the conflict’s progress and the negotiation process from Kyiv’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
As during the ministerial meeting held in the ‘Weimar Plus’ format in Rome, Tajani will express the strongest condemnation of Russia’s ongoing indiscriminate attacks and will reiterate the necessity to ensure the most effective possible assistance to Kyiv. In July, Italy will host the Conference for Ukraine’s Recovery, which will provide an additional opportunity to support and strengthen the country, also within its modernization and reform process framed by the European integration pathway.
On the sidelines, Tajani will hold several bilateral meetings to discuss with partners the main current international issues.
