NATO Parliamentary Assembly (2): appreciation for Italy's role

Rutte emphasized the potential of the Gcap program

Today, October 13, the annual session of NATO’s Parliamentary Assembly concluded in Ljubljana, with the plenary sitting that saw the participation, among others, of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, joining remotely.

In the customary slot dedicated to exchange with parliamentarians, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte expressed strong appreciation for the role played by Italian air assets in recent incidents of Russian airspace incursions into the skies of Poland and Estonia; he also highlighted Italy’s contribution to leading the KFOR mission and underlined the significant potential of the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP), cited as a virtuous example of advanced multilateral cooperation.

Attending the Ljubljana session were the deputies Lorenzo Cesa, Andrea Orsini, Luciano Cantone, Nicola Carè, Paolo Formentini and Matteo Richetti and the senators Michele Barcaiuolo, Stefano Borghesi, Alberto Losacco, Simona Flavia Malpezzi, Fausto Orsomarso and Adriano Paroli.

During the session six resolutions were adopted; the one relating to Ukraine (“Solidarity with Ukraine and the imperative of a just and lasting peace”) was drafted and presented by Malpezzi.
