France: air strike until 3 May

Expected delays and flight cancellations at Paris-Orly airport

The national protest continues in France against the pension reform wanted by French President Emmanuel Macron, which provides for the increase of the retirement age from 62 to 64 years. After the big protest march that took place on Monday May 1, the unions decided to take further steps in the dispute with the government. There is an ongoing strike in the airline industry. Waiting for the announcement of a nationwide strike.

The French Direction Générale de l'Aviation Civile (Dgac) has communicated that from Monday May 1st to 06:00 on Wednesday May 3rd there will be disruptions at Paris-Orly airport. Expected flight delays and cancellations. The civil aviation authority has urged passengers to postpone their journey or to check the status of their flight with their airline.

On May 1, the unions proclaimed a strike by workers in various transport sectors. In the railway sector, many did not answer the call and there were few interruptions. While waiting for the Conseil Constitutionnel to pronounce itself on a second request for a referendum on the pension reform on Wednesday 3 May (which should come into force on 1 September), the acronyms are planning new national protests.
