Vistara in the hands of Air India by the end of 2024

The acquisition process of Indian company proceeds smoothly

National carrier Air India plans to complete the merger with Vistara airline by the end of 2024. The company has already received the green light for the sale from Indian and foreign competition regulators.

The Vistara company is a joint venture between the Indian Tata Group (which controls 100% of Air India) and the airline Singapore Airlines. Following the merger, the latter will own 25.1% of Air India, while the rest will be held by Tata Group. The merger between the two airlines will pose a challenge to rival airline IndiGo, a low-cost carrier that currently holds a 57.5% share of the Indian domestic route market.
