Piaggio shows the P-166 DP1
Paris, France - An upgraded version of the well known reconnaissance plane for Guardia di Finanza, Italian Coast Guard and Italian Air Force
Also Piaggio provided its relevant contribution during the latest edition of the Paris-Le Bourget International Air Show (June 13-19, 2005). The main newness, besides the confirmation of the P-180 Avanti’s success, consisted in the exhibition of the first P-166 DP1 for Italian Guardia di Finanza. It deals with an upgraded version of the reconnaissance and maritime patrolling airplane, endowed with state-of-the-art avionics also provided by Galileo Avionica (Selex Group) and a renewed powerplant. The DP1 actually represents an evolution of the traditional DL3 in service with Guardia di Finanza, Italian Coast Guard and Italian Air Force, with a total number of 32 aircraft which will be progressively updated to such a standard. One has to point out that some Mediterranean Sea’s states have already proven quite interested in this vehicle.
