ITA Airways expands code-share agreement with Lufthansa Group

On new intercontinental routes from next September

ITA Airways broadens codeshare flights offer on long-haul routes with Lufthansa Group Airlines. Tickets to new destinations in Africa and Asia are on sale starting today, with travel date from September 2nd onwards.

The launch of first intercontinental code-share flights involved some destinations in Africa – among which Abidjan (ABJ), Douala (DLA), Freetown (FNA), Monrovia (ROB), Nairobi (NBO) e Ouagadougou (OUA), to be reached through Brussels Airport and available with AZ code for ITA Airways passengers – but also Bangkok (BKK), Jeddah (JED), Cairo (CAI), Riyadh (RUH), Rio de Janeiro (GIG), and Sao Paulo (GRU), available to passengers of Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines via Rome Fiumicino using a single ticket.

This second batch of codeshare long-haul routes – on sale from today – adds the Lufthansa (LH) code to ITA Airways-operated flights and the ITA Airways (AZ) code on destinations served by Lufthansa Group Companies.

Specifically, the AZ code will be applied to the following Lufthansa Group’s flights:

• Frankfurt (FRA) / Munich (MUC) – Delhi (DEL)

• Frankfurt (FRA) / Munich (MUC) – Mumbai (BOM)

• Munich (MUC) – Seoul (ICN)

At the same time, Lufthansa’s passengers will be able to take advantage of the single ticket benefits to reach the following destinations in ITA Airways’ network:

• Rome Fiumicino (FCO) – Accra (ACC)

• Rome Fiumicino (FCO) – Dakar (DSS)

• Rome Fiumicino (FCO) – Delhi (DEL).

The increased number of intercontinental destinations accessible through this code-share agreement further strengthens synergies between ITA Airways and the Lufthansa Group, enhancing connections between Italy and key markets such as Africa and Asia. This partnership offers passengers a wider, more integrated, and efficient global network, granting them reciprocal point accrual in each other’s frequent flyer programs, Volare and Miles & More.
