Telespazio supplies a mobile satellite communications system to Brazil
The industry’s work in the Country is part of the broader roadmap of the Leonardo Group
Telespazio, a joint-venture between Leonardo (67%) and Thales (33%), has been selected by the Institutional Security Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Brazil (Gabinete de Segurança Institucional da Presidência da República – GSI) to provide an advanced satellite system for mobile communications.
The satellite solution offered by Telespazio Brasil, named "Veloce", was selected following a validation and testing campaign conducted by the GSI across several operational scenarios.
The system, already operational, was designed and developed in Brazil in collaboration with Grupo Racco and is based on Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite technology, ensuring reliability, robustness, and high performance.
"Veloce" enables high-availability communications throughout Brazil, providing secure and resilient connectivity even in remote or hard-to-reach areas. The system meets stringent operational requirements and is certified according to IP68 standards, ensuring advanced protection of the terminals used against dust, water, and harsh environmental conditions.
The jv continues to support Brazil with advanced satellite communication solutions, reaffirming the strategic role of space technologies in enhancing resilience and institutional security.
The industry’s work in Brazil is part of the broader roadmap of the Leonardo Group, strengthening the role of space as a key driver for security, digitalization, and social applications through advanced services across multiple domains, including connectivity, Earth observation, and navigation.
