Italian Foreign Ministry: Italy re-elected on the ICAO board of directors
At the 40th general meeting under way in Montreal
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Italian MAECI) communicates in a note that "During the 40th General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), ongoing in Montreal, on September 28 Italy was re-elected to the executive council of the Organization as a member of the first category (reserved for the 11 States of primary importance in the aircraft transport sector) for the three-year period from 2020 to 2022.
The Italian country has received 160 votes out of 168 voters, confirming itself, together with China, among the countries most voted for the executive council. Together with Italy, in the same category, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, the Russian Federation, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States were elected.
The flattering success of Italy, a member of the ICAO executive council since its establishment, testifies to the primary importance that the country plays in the field of civil aviation and the ongoing commitment to increase the quality and safety of air transport.
The new council that will be elected by the current assembly (next October 1st the elections for the third category are expected) will be called next November to elect the new president of the Organization Council (for the period 2020-2022), a position for which Italy competes with engineer Salvatore Sciacchitano".
