Paris-Orly Airport (3): DGAC announces the end of flight restrictions

The airport has returned to normal operations: only minor residual delays may occur

The French Directorate General for Civil Aviation (DGAC) has just announced the end of flight restrictions at Paris-Orly Airport, following yesterday’s disruptions and chaos caused by a failure in the air traffic control systems at the Parisian hub (see AVIONEWS 1 and 2). The official statement reports as follows:

“On Sunday, May 18, 2025, significant difficulties were observed in the radar display instrument used by the air navigation services of the Paris-Orly control tower. In accordance with procedures, air traffic controllers switched to the backup system, which required a 40% reduction in flight schedules on Sunday and a 15% reduction today. All measures undertaken by the DGAC teams have enabled a return to normal technical operations from now on, ensuring the full flight program in the coming days. Nevertheless, some delays may still occur due to traffic management issues.

The DGAC once again thanks the airlines and Paris airports for their cooperation and apologizes to travellers affected by these disruptions".
