Air India: Boeing B-787/8 aircraft makes safe landing
Reversing course to Hong Kong airport due to suspected 'technical issues'

The problems for Air India continue: this morning a Boeing B-787/8 aircraft, flight AI-315 bound for Delhi, reversed course and returned to Hong Kong International Airport from which it had taken off. The captain suspected a technical problem and as a precaution decided to return to the airport, where it landed without difficulty, disembarking all passengers safely, according to sources close to the company. The aircraft took off at 11:59 local time, about 3 hours and 9 minutes later than scheduled, according to "FlightAware".
The model and airline are the same as the aircraft that crashed shortly after takeoff in Ahmedabad, India, on June 12. For the very serious accident that left only one survivor on board and also caused victims on the ground, see the articles published by AVIONEWS 1 and 2 and related links.
