Italian Enac: boarding process simplified
It is sufficient to show the boarding pass instead of the identity documents

Pierluigi Di Palma, president of the Italian Civil Aviation Authority, clarifies: no reduction in safety levels
Anyone travelling from all Italian airports will no longer need to show an ID: their boarding pass will suffice. This announcement was made today by Pierluigi Di Palma, president of Enac (Italian Civil Aviation Authority), in an interview with "Corriere della Sera", which was also published on the agency's website. The Ministry of the Interior has already approved the decision in recent days, which was first implemented on July 6, when passengers on the Ryanair flight from Bergamo to Menorca were not asked for ID. Di Palma, however, specified that passengers must still carry their ID card or passport for possible checks.
According to the president in the interview, the measure stems from the desire to expedite boarding and avoid wasting time on bureaucratic red tape. The new process would not lead to a reduction in security because travelers are screened at the border crossings with metal detectors and X-ray machines.
