Wizz Air announces a new route to Fiumicino

Twice a week operated by A-321neo aircraft

Wizz Air continues its expansion in Italy announcing a new air connection from Podgorica to Rome–Fiumicino; operated twice a week by an A-321neo airplane, with the first flight scheduled for 2 June 2026.

The launch of this new direct route further strengthens the low-cost carrier's commitment to expanding its presence in Italy. Rome–Fiumicino is Wizz Air's largest base in the country, with over 580 direct employees and a network of 62 routes serving 24 countries. A few weeks after the announcement of the 14th aircraft assigned to the base and the increase of five major routes –including London, Malaga, Sharm El-Sheikh and Valencia– this new route further reinforces Rome's strategic role within the carrier's Italian network.

Thanks to continuous investments at the capital's airport, Wizz Air has already operated more than 25,000 flights to and from Fiumicino this year, carrying over 5.3 million passengers. Since the start of operations it has welcomed more than 25.6 million passengers to and from Rome and this year alone the airline is offering more than 7.4 million seats in the Italian capital.

In total across Italy it operates 245 routes in 32 countries with a fleet of 27 A-321neo aircraft, serving 27 airports and in 2025 the carrier transported almost 16 million passengers.
