Russia: Turkish, Egyptian and Saudi astronauts in the space
The Bajkonur cosmodrome could be the basis for training
The Russian Space Agency Roscosmos intends to send Turkish, Egyptian and Saudi astronauts to space. The director of the company, Dmitry Rogozin, stated this today: "The Bajkonur cosmodrome is the cradle of the cosmonautics world. I am sure that the base will become a nest for the preparation of new chicks ("astronauts in training", Ed) from Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, from which their first space flight will start. We are also discussing with other potential participants in this project". And he added: "Previously, it was believed that with the advent of a new American spaceship, there would no longer be a need for the 'Soyuz' vehicle, but it was exactly the opposite".
This fall, the United Arab Emirates have successfully shipped the first UAE astronaut Hazza Al Mansoori.
