Japan Coast Guard orders two more H-225 helicopters

The number of Super Puma-Cougar in fleet will rise to 15

Japan’s largest Super Puma operator, that is Japan Coast Guard (JCG), has placed a new order of two H-225 helicopters, that brings to 15 the number of aircraft of this model in its fleet comprising also two AS-332s. The new aircraft will be utilised for territorial coastal activities, security enforcement, as well as national disaster relief missions.

The 11-ton-category, twin-engine H-225 is the latest member of Airbus Helicopters’ Super Puma family. Equipped with state-of-the-art electronic instruments and autopilot, offers outstanding endurance and fast cruise speed, and can be fitted with various equipment to suit any role. In Japan alone, currently it is used by civil, parapublic operators, and Ministry of Defense a total of 28 aircraft of the Super Puma-Cougar family, for various missions (Search and rescue, off-shore operations, VIP, fire-fighting, and passenger and goods transportation).
