Planes, Norwegian Air Shuttle is closer to nationalization?
Scandinavian government is in talks with managers
One of the many ways to go, perhaps the safest at the moment: Oslo government is seriously considering nationalizing Norwegian Air Shuttle, as reported in recent hours by the Scandinavian media (read also the article published by AVIONEWS) . According to the executive, in fact, rescuing the company in great economic difficulty would be the best solution to adopt; in this case one would have to choose between Norwegian itself and the old national airline, Scandinavian Airlines, also in need of some "oxygen".
In recent days there would have been decisive meetings and the situation of airline was taken into account before the coronavirus pandemic broke out. In fact, the Norwegian company was one of those in the best of health conditions, a “magic moment” well exemplified by its operations at London's Gatwick airport (the third largest carrier after easyJet and British Airways). That is why they are desperately trying to save what can be saved, despite the almost 280 million euros disbursed in March not being enough for the moment. Same operation against Sas is instead considered much more complicated, given that the property is managed together with the governments of Denmark and Sweden.
