South Africa, no visa required for tourists of 11 countries

Air passengers do not need to present certificates

An attempt (for some people, desperate) to favor national tourism: South Africa announced in recent hours that it wants to open foreign citizens from 11 countries without a visa to enter the national territory. The news became public after speech of Aaron Motsoaledi, interior minister, who listed the countries exempted from the obligation to present the document in case of air connection with South Africa. We are talking about South Korea, Spain, Italy, Germany, Hong Kong, Singapore, United States, the United Kingdom, France, Portugal and Iran. The exemption, however, does not invalidate all the other regulations provided by the African State to combat the coronavirus. The minister called for a rapid and urgent dissemination of the provision to the entire air transport industry, embassies and all interested parties.

Passengers in transit through South Africa by plane will be required to comply with health protocols in force in these parts, even if they will not have to present the certificate certifying the negativity to the coronavirus for what concerns the previous 72 hours. Furthermore, according to the provisions of South African executive, anyone coming from a country with a high percentage of infections is required to contact the local department of internal affairs; in this way it will be possible to demonstrate the reasons for the trip.
