Aircraft. Cyprus air traffic is recovering

In May comforting data for the Summer

The month of May began as best could not have been foreseen for Cyprus air transport. As reported in the last few hours by Yiannis Karousos, the island's transport minister, the first nine days of this month were characterized by an increase in volumes, with 59% more passengers than in April. The owner of the Cypriot dicastery has entrusted his statements on the sector to the social network Twitter. In particular, scheduled flights were nearly 44 percentage points higher in the monthly comparison. The Nation is therefore confidently approaching the summer season, given that there is a fair amount of interest on the part of air carriers for what concerns this area of the world. The tourism sector in Cyprus has suffered a major setback due to the coronavirus pandemic. In fact, since the health emergency began, the sector has shown a net decline in arrivals, 93% less. Now we are starting to return to the country, mainly tourists who come from Sweden, while the arrivals from Russia have remained constant, a confirmation in this sense. The Mediterranean island, however, is visited to a large extent by people from the United Kingdom and this is precisely the main challenge in view of the coming months. Hermes Airports, the company that manages the international airports of Paphos and Larnaca, expects a total of 220 air connections this week, while in April it had stopped at just 35.
