Su-24 bomber plane crashes in Russia
Save the two pilots
A Sukhoi Su-24 supersonic tactical bomber of the Russian Air Force crashed today near Perm, in the far west of European Russia, while it was on a direct transfer flight to a center where it would receive the usual scheduled maintenance. Probably due to an accident the airplane fell into a wooded area 95 km west of the town, almost 1400 km east-north-east of Moscow. On board the pilot and co-pilot who managed to eject each other before the plane touched the ground, causing irreparable damage. There was no damage to the ground.
"The pilots are doing well" the Russian military authorities said. The two were tracked down, picked up and taken to hospital for the usual medical checks by a SAR (Search and Rescue) helicopter sent to the site. The bomber was not armed.
