The French company Safran -specialized in aerospace, defense and security- chose to cut its workforce by 16,000 units, reducing the number of employees to 79,000 people in the last two years. A decision that top management explained as dictated by the need to cushion the economic effects of the health crisis, allowing the manufacturer to remain competitive in the market.

Now, however, executives have announced the hiring of 12,000 workers in 2022, including 3,000 in France. This is all because of the recovery of the aircraft market, which requires the company to continue to be competitive and up-to-date. 

"The worst is behind us. I am very confident". After "the worst crisis in aviation" now "air traffic is recovering, orders are dynamic and production rates are increasing", particularly for orders on the A-320neo and the B-737Max. The group still has some "supply difficulties for aluminum, titanium and nickel, but also in resins and chemicals". It was explained by the CEO of Safran, Olivier Andriès, in an interview with the French newspaper "Le Figaro". 

"The Omicron variant -he added- is a source of uncertainty in the short term. Vaccination campaigns are proceeding rapidly around the world. I remain optimistic. Every time the borders are reopened, passengers flock". Therefore on assume "a return to the pre-covid situation by the end of 2022 in the medium-haul market".
