4 CH-53K military helicopters to Israel
King Stallions will be equipped with Tel Aviv-made defense systems
US aerospace and defense specialist Lockheed Martin Group officially announced in recent days that it will produce four Sikorsky CH-53K King Stallion heavy helicopters for Israel. The aircraft are expected to be equipped with enhanced defense systems thanks to technologies manufactured by Tel Aviv on its own territory. Initial delivery is scheduled for 2025.
The announcement comes after the Israeli Government in January approved a 2.4 billion dollar deal to purchase 12 helicopters. However, the recent declaration only pertains to the delivery of the first four aircraft, which, precisely, will be equipped with Israeli-American technologies. This factor, Israeli sources close to the file explain, could delay the delivery by about a year, as it is necessary to equip the aircraft with the systems.
