Ukraine crisis: world's largest plane destroyed

Ukrainian aircraft hitted during Russian military attack

Ukrainian Government has confirmed that the world's largest aircraft has been destroyed during the Russian invasion of the country. It is a locally manufactured cargo airplane built in one piece: an Antonov An-225 named Mriya (hope, in local language) that was parked inside a hangar at Hostomel airport, which was attacked by the Soviet military in recent days.

"Russia may have destroyed our 'Mriya,' but they will never be able to destroy our dream of a strong, free and democratic European State. We will prevail", Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba wrote on his social network pages.

At the moment, the Ukrainian carrier Antonov Airlines has not provided information on the status of the plane. In recent hours some photos circulated on social media showed the hangar on fire, leading some to believe that the aircraft was damaged. Now the Ukrainian minister has confirmed the destruction of the airplane.
