Plane crash in China (2): Beijing stops the B-737/800s

China Eastern Airlines safely grounds more than 200 aircraft

The air carrier China Eastern Airlines -the second largest company of the Dragon- and its controlled airlines (China Cargo, China United, Ott) have temporarily grounded the entire fleet of B-737/800: about 223 aircraft, according to the news agency "Xinhua". This decision comes in the wake of the accident three days ago in which 132 people lost their lives in the crash of flight 5735.

It was announced at a press conference by one of the representatives of the airline's communication office, Liu Xiaodong. He added that all grounded aircraft are undergoing safety and maintenance checks. The aim is to verify compliance with safety standards to which airworthiness requirements are linked.
