Two Turkish Atak helicopters in the Philippines

It is the first delivery of this aircraft to a foreign country

Turkey has delivered 2 T-129 ATAK military attack helicopters built by Turkish Aerospace Industries (Tai) to the Philippines. This was announced by the director of the Turkish Defense Industries Bureau (Ssb), Ismail Demir. This order marks the first delivery of the military rotary-wing craft to a foreign country. The value of the purchase amounts to about 100 million dollars. It was reported by the Turkish newspaper "Hurriyet".

"We are happy to witness a historic moment. With this agreement, defense cooperation has reached a very high level. Our companies are willing to cooperate in the field of technology, joint production and marketing with friendly nations. Despite the heavy impact of the pandemic on world economies, the growth of defense spending in the Asia-Pacific region reminds us that the provision of armaments is still a priority of Asian countries", Demir stressed.

The Tai T-129 ATAK is a twin-engine multi-role aircraft equipped with 2 LHTEC CTS800-4AT turbines. The first flight test took place on September 28, 2009. It is designed for armed reconnaissance, precision attack, day and night attack missions, in all environments and regardless of weather conditions.
