Ukrainian war: meeting Zelensky-vor der Leyen

A message of solidarity to the population: Europe will continue to support Kiev

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, is today in Kiev together with the High Representative for Foreign Policy of Brussels, Josep Borrell, for a meeting with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. It was officially said by the news agency "Ukrinform" yesterday, confirming the anticipations of the two European politicians.

"The president will bring to the government and the whole population a message of total solidarity from the European Union to Ukraine in the face of the invasion by Russia" and "will certainly reiterate and discuss all the support that the European Union is giving and will continue to give to Kiev in these difficult circumstances", explained a spokesman of the European Commission.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Zelensky in a video on social networks has launched new accusations against the Kremlin: "The Russian army has changed tactics and is hiding bodies in the occupied territories after a wave of international indignation for the atrocities in Bucha. Moscow will initiate a new wave of bloodshed in the Donbass unless world leaders impose really painful sanctions on it". Moreover, without "the supply of weapons" to Kiev, Russia will consider itself legitimized to act and "to attack", he concluded.
