China plane crash: CAAC will review safety standards

Two-week national oversight kicks off to identify new hidden risks

Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) announced to have started a two week monitoring on safety standards in these days. This decision comes after a B-737/800 passenger aircraft (flight MU5735) of the China Eastern airline crashed on March 21.

The aim of the investigation is to review safety standards. For this reason, CAAC has involved regional steering groups to carry out supervision throughout the air transport sector, with the aim of identifying hidden risks and dangers and preventing serious air accidents.

As of April 8, 1555 international airline connections have been cancelled (644 in 2022) since the introduction of a new safety mechanism in June 2020. This is an updated standard based on a device of awards and cancellations of flights and the management of prevention, changes urged by the need to limit epidemics.
