The Russian Defense Ministry has confirmed that the cruiser "Moskva" has sunk. This was reported in recent hours by the state news agency "Tass". It is the flagship of the Black Sea Navy, which yesterday suffered serious damage due to a fire that broke out on board, which led to the evacuation of the crew, while in the waters off the Ukrainian port of Odessa. Ukraine claims to have hit it after a missile attack, a very hard blow for the Russian fleet. It is a very relevant loss for Moscow that, as British intelligence points out, will have to do without a key vehicle, both as a command ship and for air defense.

According to Russia, a fire broke out on board, causing ammunition to detonate. At that point the badly damaged ship sank while being towed into port due to a storm. The "Moskva" was the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet and a lead ship of Project 1164. She was commissioned in 1983 under the name Slava. Its main weapon was 16 P-1000 Vulkan anti-ship missile launchers.
