Ukrainian conflict: Odessa airport attacked

Moscow reports that the runway and a hangar have been destroyed, confirmation from Kiev

The airport of Odessa has been hit in these days by a series of missile raids carried out also with Onyx rockets, thant, according to Moscow destroyed a runway and a hangar. The confirmation comes in part from various national media and from numerous Ukrainian witnesses who report having heard multiple explosions in the southern part of the city.

The announcement was initially made by the Ukrainian "Interfax" news agency, which cited sources in the Russian Defense Ministry. According to Moscow, the airport was storing armaments sent by the United States and European countries. According to the Kremlin, the Russian Air Force also shot down two Ukrainian Sukhoi Su-24 bombers that were operating in the skies over the city of Kharkiv, located in eastern Ukraine.

For its part, the Kiev Army command confirmed that the runway of Odessa airport was damaged by a Russian rocket, without causing casualties. The rocket attack, as it has been happening for weeks, has been carried out with the aim of cutting off supplies of armaments and soldiers, isolating the southern and eastern front.
