EasyJet buys 56 new planes

The agreement with European manufacturer Airbus

British low-cost carrier EasyJet has entered into an agreement with European aircraft manufacturer Airbus to purchase 56 A-320neo aircraft. This is an order worth about 6.5 billion dollars. The airplanes will be delivered by 2029 (at 2018 list prices). The deal also includes the conversion of 18 fixed-wing A-320neo model aircraft to A-321neo.

The airline said that "the proposed purchase strengthens easyJet's order book with the European manufacturer and continues the modernization of the fleet", with the phasing out of older A-320 or A-319 aircraft. Aircraft compared to which the new ones consume 15-25% less fuel during transport-passenger air links. The agreement finalizes a contract dating back to 2013 between the two entities.
