India: delivered three US military helicopters

An order for 24 aircraft to modernize Navy fleet by 2025

The Indian Navy announced in recent hours that it received the first batch of three US-made Sikorsky SH-60 "Seahawk" military warfare helicopters. The aircraft arrived in India in the past few days via a special air flight arranged by the Us Air Force. The two delegations made the delivery official in a ceremony at the military base at Kochi Airport.

The Indian Defense Ministry's order dates back to 2020. It consists of 24 Sikorsky helicopters and is worth about 2.6 billion dollars. They will replace aging US Westland WS-61 Sea King aircraft and Russian Kamov Ka-27PLs. Deliveries will be completed by 2025.

In addition to aircraft of the Anti-Submarine Warfare (Asw) type, equipped to support a combat against submarines, the order includes the purchase of various armaments (AGM-114 Hellfire missiles, laser-guided rockets, MK-54 torpedoes, machine guns), intelligent defense systems, multi-mode radar, and 12 replacement turbines.
