Flight to the Moon on September 3rd

Rescheduled unmanned mission "Artemis 1" to lunar orbit

The launch of "Artemis 1", the unmanned mission to the lunar orbit organized by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), is scheduled for next Saturday September 3 at 8:17pm Italian time. This is the second attempt after the launch on August 29 was aborted during the countdown due to technical reasons and poor weather conditions.

The announcement of the rescheduling of the mission was given in the past few hours by a head of the American space agency. At the moment the weather forecasts for Saturday September 3 are favorable but the managers of "Artemis 1" will meet again to define the details, modify some procedures and perform new tests.

Meanwhile, the causes that led to the abortion of the launch last August 29 emerge in detail: the technical problems had prevented the four engines of the Sls (Space Launch System) rocket from cooling down, in particular engine number 3, which had a higher temperature. compared to the others, without forgetting the loss of hydrogen encountered during the loading of the energy carrier.
