Airspace lockdown occurs between 1:50 pm and 3:40 pm local time

This afternoon the procession that will accompany Queen Elizabeth II 's coffin from Buckingham Palace, her residence for 70 years, to Westminster Hall, where from today to Sunday the coffin will remain open for four days to allow millions of subjects to pay homage to the reigning queen.

For the occasion, silence will also be guaranteed in the airspace above the city of London. "We will impose the necessary changes as a sign of respect towards the period of mourning for the death of her majesty", underlined the spokesperson, of London-Heathrow airport, the main British airport and one of the largest in Europe.

Between 1:50pm and 3:40pm local time, the block of the space above the capital will be triggered, which could cause detours and delays for scheduled air connections in that time slot. Meanwhile, the funeral procession, which started at 3:30pm, arrived at Westminster Hall at 3:00pm British time, after just over half an hour of travel, but the aerial silence continued for about 40 minutes after the arrival of the coffin.
