Putin to the Nation: the escape of the Russians by plane

Sold out tickets for flights and trains departing from Moscow

After the partial mobilization of Russian soldiers announced yesterday by President Vladimir Putin, thousands of Russian citizens tried to leave the country. Immediately after the words of the head of the Kremlin, all tickets for air connections departing today from Moscow towards Yerevan (Armenia) and Istanbul (Turkey) were sold out. Meanwhile, thousands of people took to the streets to protest and almost 2000 arrests were reported.

This is what emerged from an analysis of the information site "Moscow Times" which since yesterday has been monitoring plane bookings on the Aviasales.ru portal. A few hours after Putin 's speech, all tickets for air connections departing from Moscow and destined for Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan were also sold out. Bookings boom also for Russian railways, with citizens fleeing to neighboring countries. On the border between Russia and Finland, witnesses speak of 35 kilometers of queue.

It is a sign of concern over Putin's decision to send men between the ages of 18 and 65 to war. The mobilization, in fact, could lead to the closure of borders and the blocking of travel abroad. Meanwhile, the monitoring of search engines shows a surge in requests for information such as "escape from Russia", "draft evasion" and "emigration".
