ITA Airways: Certares meets the trade unions

Summit with Filt-Cgil, Uiltrasporti and Ugl TA next October 11

The US investment fund Certares, in exclusive negotiations with the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance (Mef) for the acquisition of the majority of the Italian ITA Airways, is planning a series of meetings with various interested parties involved in the the privatization process of the national airline, meetings in which to illustrate the development plan designed for the Italian carrier.

The first date circled in red on the calendar is 11 October. Next week the US fund Certares will meet with the unions of the aviation sector. The American delegation will be led by Italian managers Domenico Barile and Stefano Sardo, while the presence of the president and founder of the Certares fund, Greg O'Hara, is uncertain.

We consider "shared interventions urgent and essential". The time is ripe for "starting a confrontation". We call for "adequate enhancement actions for ITA personnel, whose high professionalism supported the start-up phase of the company, supporting the sacrifices with commitment and dedication", declared the Filt-Cgil, Uiltrasporti, Ugl Trasporto Aereo trade unions.

"Risks of disaffection must be avoided -the trade unions underlined- and exodus phenomena that would jeopardize the evolution of the company's industrial plan, fleet growth and operational regularity in the coming months, in a period of strong recovery of global air transport".
