Ukrainian war: 12 helicopters from Macedonia

Skopje executive evaluates sending Mi-24 military aircraft

North Macedonia's Government will discuss in Parliament the possibility of sending 12 Russian-made Mil Mi-24 military helicopters to Ukraine. This is an initiative, already examined by the Defense General Staff which has completed an analysis to establish whether the country could supply these aircraft.

"All the equipment that has been transferred so far, besides the fact that it was at the request of the Ukrainians who needed it, is armaments that the Kiev army skillfully uses. This is equipment whose period of exploitation ends according to our plans", said the Defense Minister of North Macedonia, Slavjanka Petrovska, interviewed by a national television station.

The Macedonian executive explained that the transfer of weapon systems will not affect the combat readiness of the national army. Skopje sent four Sukhoi Su-25 attack aircraft to Ukraine last year. Meanwhile, Russian-made helicopters supplied to Kiev have been specially adapted to work with North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) forces.
