Russia announces aviation subsidies

Support for closed airports and airlines to pay for aircraft leasing

The Russian Federal Agency for Russian Air Transport, "Rosaviatsia", communicated that the government will subsidize the civil aviation sector with public money today. In particular, the Moscow executive announced that it will allocate more than 312 million dollars to support national air carriers, so that they can pay aircraft loans to leasing companies. In addition, there will be 27 million dollars on the plate for the airports.

"The effective subsidy program of interest rates on loans taken out by leasing companies for the purchase of Russian aircraft will cover the loans taken out in 2023", said the Russian cabinet of ministers. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has already signed the decree extending the subsidy for 2023-2025.

As regards the funds allocated to airports, the Kremlin will allocate an additional 27 million dollars (another 26 million in May 2023) to support the airports of central and southern Russia (Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, Anapa, Gelendzhik, Elista, Lipetsk, Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Voronezh and Simferopol), "to partially offset the expenses resulting from the renewal of flight restrictions", Moscow said.
