Aircraft. Strike in Italy on 8 September

A 24-hour mobilization proclaimed in various aviation sectors

Proclaimed a 24-hour national strike in Italy for tomorrow, Friday 8 September 2023. The agitation involves various sectors within aviation, each with specific methods: ground service workers, airport workers, the flight personnel of the Poste Air Cargo airline, the employees of the Sogaer management company which controls the "Mario Mameli" airport of Cagliari-Elmas. Inconveniences are expected for thousands of travellers, many of whom are still returning from vacation.

The Confederazione unitaria di base (Cub) has called a series of mobilizations which concern: workers in the airline, airport and related industries (from 00:01 to 11:59 pm); the personnel of the Alha service company at the Milan-Malpensa airport (from 00:00 to 11:59 pm); the workers of the GH Verona company at the homonymous airport (from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm).

Furthermore, the unions Federazione lavoratori aziende italiane (Flai Trasporti e servizi) and Unione sindacale di base (Usb Lavoro Privato) have proclaimed a 24-hour strike involving workers of airport handling services companies (from 00:01 to 11:59 pm). Arms crossed 24 hours also for the technical personnel of the Poste Air Cargo airline (from 00:01 to midnight) belonging to the Fit-Cisl union; and for workers of the Cagliari airport management company (Sogaer) affiliated with the acronym Ugl Transport by air (from 00:01 to 11:59 pm).

During strikes, flights from 7:00am to 10:00am and from 6:00pm to 9:00pm will be guaranteed, as required by Italian and International law. In these time slot the air transport service will operate normally.
