Germany: new American helicopters arrive

Washington strengthens its presence in the Old Continent

Washington has sent military helicopters to Europe. This is the new generation (version VI) of Apache AH-64E Guardian combat aircraft, produced by the American manufacturer Boeing. There are currently two rotorcraft sent to the Army's 12th Combat Aviation Brigade, at the "Clay" base in Wiesbaden, Germany. The reception of another 22 units will follow.

"This new aircraft gives us so much more capability. There are upgrades on board to so many different aspects of the aircraft, which will improve our ability to support allies here in the European theater", explained US Army First Lieutenant Brigit Duffy, head of maintenance of the first Battalion of the Third aviation Regiment.

The AH-64E V6 includes multiple improvements to sensors, software, onboard weapons systems capabilities and connectivity. Yes, because the aircraft is designed for interoperability within the multi-domain ecosystem and is optimized for attack and combat missions. The helicopter is equipped with laser or radar-guided air-to-ground Hellfire missiles, 2.75-inch Hydra rockets and a 30 mm M230 machine gun.
