Naples Airport: metro connection by 2026

Manfredi: "The city will have a high-level rail transport system"

By 2026, metro line 1 will connect the "Ugo Niutta" international airport of Naples-Capodichino with the urban area of the Campania capital. It was reiterated by the municipal administration in recent hours, which this morning visited the construction site where the last underground fragment separating the two tunnels between the Poggioreale and Capodichino airports was demolished.

"The metro construction site is progressing quickly. An important effort to ensure that Naples increasingly equips itself with a high-level rail transport system, typical of a large city, which is at the service of citizens and the many visitors", declared the mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi.

The project establish, among other things, the creation of two tunnels connecting the Poggioreale and Capodichino stations, each approximately 1000 meters long and with a circular section of 6 meters and 80 centimetres. The works are carried out by the Integra Consortium with Sinergo. With the demolition of the underground fragment, the section between the Naples business center and Capodichino was completed.
