Strikes in Italy, May 28: taxi service and airport handling stopped
EasyJet flight crew also on strike today

The unions have called two Italian strikes for today: on one side the protesters are the workers of the civil aviation sector, on the other the taxi drivers. The labor unions involved are Usb (Basic Union) Private Work, Usb taxi, Filt-Cgil (Italian Federation of Transport Workers of the Italian General Confederation of Labour), Fit-Cisl (Italian Federation of Transport of the Italian Confederation of Workers' Unions), Uilt-Uil (Italian Union of Transport Workers of the Italian Union of Workers), Taxi Bari/Intaxi and Cobas (Basic Committee) Private Work.
At the airports, the strike lasts from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm and involves flight personnel of the low-cost airline easyJet and the handling companies Swissport and Airport handling at the Milan-Linate and Milan-Malpensa airports. Service is guaranteed from 7:00 am to 10:00 am and from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, as established by Enac (Italian Civil Aviation Authority).
The taxi strike will instead involve Rome, Turin, Naples, Lamezia Terme for 24 hours and Bari for 12 hours from 9:00am to 9:00pm. The reasons for the strike are the irregular use of NCC (Rental with driver) authorizations and Uber's entry into non-scheduled TPL (Local Public Transport) with incorrect methods and in contrast with municipal regulations regulating drivers' activities, according to what was stated by the unions. In Rome, a procession of 40 taxis from Piazzale Guglielmo Marconi will reach Piazza Bocca della Verità between 10:00am and 1:00pm.
Finally, in the provinces of Milan, Pavia, Cremona, Monza and Brianza and in the Municipality of Brescia, a 24-hour local public transport strike is underway, proclaimed by Usb Private Work.
