UNI Air signs order for 19 ATR-72/600 airplanes

Deliveries are scheduled between 2027 and 2032

ATR, the world manufacturer of regional aircraft, announces that UNI Air, a group company of EVA Air, has placed a firm order for 19 -72/600s, along with three additional purchase rights. This marks the largest ATR order since 2017, and the second direct order from UNI Air since 2011, when the Taiwanese carrier purchased 10 -72/600s. It serves as a clear testament of UNI Air’s and affiliated company EVA Air’s trust in ATR turboprops to serve the Taiwanese domestic market efficiently. Deliveries are scheduled between 2027 and 2032.

These 19 brand-new aircraft will replace and expand UNI Air’s current fleet of 14 -72/600s, marking a significant step in the airline’s modernisation and growth. They are equipped with new generation PW127XT engines.

Operating primarily from Taipei Songshan Airport, UNI Air plays a vital role for locals, tourists and businesses alike, by providing reliable essential air connectivity to 11 destinations, including the islands of Kinmen, Penghu and Matsu using ATR turboprops. Beyond serving these direct routes, UNI Air also contributes to a broader regional mobility network, seamlessly linking communities, feeding into larger domestic and international hubs, and strengthening Taiwan’s integrated transport ecosystem, ensuring efficient and low-emission connectivity for all travellers.

This significant order reaffirms ATR’s role as the preferred choice for airlines seeking modern, efficient, and low-emission regional aircraft while further strengthening UNI Air’s position as a regional aviation reference. Along with ATR’s strong wave of recorded sales in 2024, it highlights the renewed momentum in regional aviation. Asia-Pacific remains the most dynamic market for the French industry, where its aircraft are ideally suited to the region’s diverse landscapes and evolving demographic needs, supporting efficient and sustainable connectivity.

UNI Air, established in 1988, is the carrier with the most frequent and densest domestic flight schedule in Taiwan. The airline serves a domestic network connecting major cities and outlying islands, including Taipei, Taichung, Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Kinmen, Penghu, Matsu, Hualien and Taitung. It cooperates with EVA Air through wet-lease arrangements to operate regional flights within Asia and Mainland China.
