"Le Bourget" (6): ANA Holdings strengthens its fleet with Airbus

Firm order for 27 aircraft. The order includes A-321XLR for Peach Aviation

The Japanese giant Ana Holdings (Anahd) has finalized an agreement by signing a firm order with the European giant Airbus for 24 single-aisle A-321neo and three A-321XLR aircraft.  The order was announced at the 2025 Paris Air and Space Show during a signing ceremony with Koji Shibata, Representative Director, President and CEO of Anahd, and Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President Sales of Airbus Commercial Aircraft division, specifically concerning 14 additional A-321neo for All Nippon Airways (Ana), as well as 10 A-321neo and three A-321XLR for the Group's airline, Peach Aviation, to strengthen the current fleet.

Peach Aviation will become the first Japanese airline to operate the A-321XLR, which has the longest range among all single-aisle aircraft, flying up to 4700 nm/8700 km non-stop, according to a statement released today. Ana operates 33 aircraft from the A-320 family, while Peach Aviation operates 36. The A-321neo is part of the A-320neo family and incorporates the latest technologies, including new-generation engines, sharklets, and cabin efficiency systems, which together enable fuel savings and CO2 reduction of over 20% compared to previous generation single-aisle aircraft, the statement further reads.

The A-321XLR complements widebody aircraft; it offers the flexibility to add capacity, open new routes, or even continue operating existing ones in case of demand changes. All this while consuming 30% less fuel per seat. The new Airspace cabin of the A-321XLR will provide passengers with the comfort of long-haul flights in all classes. To date, over 7,000 A-321neo units have been ordered by more than 90 customers worldwide, the statement concludes.

For Europe’s airports, communities and economy

Importantly, there is no tangible evidence that the EU Qatar agreement has resulted in Qatar Airways gaining a dominant or unfair market position at the expense of European airlines. In fact, Qatar Airways has not expanded significantly in the European market in recent years –as evidenced by the fact that the airline’s seat capacity deployed in Europe in the current IATA Winter season (October 2025–March 2026) remains -10% below its pre-pandemic (2019) level more
