EU: no structural shortage of aviation fuel
Brussels coordinates with the IEA and Member States to ensure logistical continuity
No signals of a structural fuel shortage that could translate into large-scale flight cancellations have emerged, a European Commission spokeswoman said during the briefing with journalists.
The EU executive is following the situation closely and in coordination with the International Energy Agency (IEA), the spokeswoman added it, stressing that assessments are constantly updated.
Individual operational decisions taken by airports remain the sole responsibility of the airports and local authorities; however, at present there is no widespread and systematic shortage in the refuelling of aviation fuel. The EU will continue to monitor logistical flows and availabilities to prevent significant disruption, intervening, if necessary, at the level of coordination between Member States and international organizations.
