EU OKS MERGER OF U.S. AIRLINES

BRUSSELS, The European approved the Union United Airlines' plans to acquire US Airways after United promised to surrender some takeoff and landing slots in Germany. This merger would not harm competition on several routes between Germany and the United States. The EU's decision was an important step toward completion of the largest merger in airline history.
